Susi Baerentzen - Head of Tax for Denmark

Meet Susi Baerentzen, the Head of Tax for Denmark. Her main responsibilities cover all tax matters related to the corporation, local oil and green businesses, employees, and international operations connected to Denmark."That’s huge amounts of money every year and a lot of transactions. My job is to keep track of all of that and ensure we do everything by the book – and in the best way possible."

Susi brings a broad and unique professional background. She previously worked at the Ministry of Taxation before moving into advisory, where she served as an extended advisor to the Head of Tax. In addition to her role at TotalEnergies, Susi is also an Associate Professor in Law.

Reflecting on the energy industry’s transformation, Susi takes pride in TotalEnergies’ ability to adapt and in the significant market share gained over the years. "We’re actually walking the walk – not just talking the talk."  From a tax perspective, she finds this evolution fascinating: an entire industry adapting to a new world while ensuring profitability and sustainability.

Outside of work, Susi proudly calls herself a “tax geek.” As an Associate Professor, she conducts research, delivers presentations, and writes articles on taxation. Beyond her academic pursuits, she travels the world, competes in extreme triathlons, and takes part in ice swimming competitions.

One of Susi’s most memorable experiences at TotalEnergies was the warm welcome she received upon joining the company.

For anyone considering a career at TotalEnergies, Susi wholeheartedly recommends it: "It’s a great company with a huge, multinational, and diverse group of people who are constantly evolving. If you have the mindset for that, it’s a fantastic place to be."
