In this edition, we meet Alexandre Catroun, a student assistant from our HSSE department at TEPDK, who talks about his time as both a student and VIE at TotalEnergies, how he navigates new cultures as well as what he has learned whilst being at TotalEnergies.
Alexandre joined the company initially as a VIE SECE engineer and stayed on after his VIE contract ended as a student assistant whilst studying his master’s degree in risk and safety management at Aalborg University.
Alexandre highlights his most memorable experience at TotalEnergies as being when he got the opportunity to go offshore to the Halfdan Field, though whilst taking the BOSIET training was a bit shock, stating that So I went to this training center and went to the swimming pool, and coming from Paris to a Danish city and being in the cold water was something else for me… I really enjoyed this experience, weirdly.
But this did not scare him off, focusing instead on the trust and healthy work-life balance promoted by his colleagues, saying that One of the key things I learned is that they want you to be a good human being and after that they will trust you to be a good worker. So, it's just this healthy relationship I found in this workplace.
Alexandre concludes that: There is a lot of effort put into the work-life balance. And as a young engineer, that's something I learned here, and I will definitely take back with me.
Highlighting the importance of work-life balance and trust between colleagues is an important part of our impact at TEPDK, and something we can be proud to inspire others to spread throughout the TotalEnergies world.
